U.S. Dept. of HHS Secretary Leavitt's Four Cornerstones of
Value-driven Health Care

To HPCI members and supports-

U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Leavitt’s office has requested HPCI sign-on in support of this effort along with our members and other employers in Iowa and across the U. S. Since we (HPCI) endorsed the overall program earlier this year, it seems we should do this. It is an important initiative, consistent with HPCI’s mission and goals. This latest request is more specific.

See attached:

Also their web-site is excellent at www.hhs.gov/transparency.

Please review this request and let me know:

  • 1. If you agree that HPCI should sign on in support.
  • 2. If your company is interested in signing the Statement of Support (attached).

Fred Schuster, Regional Director, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has asked to contact you and other HPCI members to discuss this.

Secretary Leavitt is planning to visit Iowa, and along with the Governor, will hold a signing ceremony of companies/organizations willing to sign the Statement of Support. I’m told this will take place as early as late January (maybe May at the latest). I’ll keep you posted.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Paul
