HPCI News: An ObamaCare-Inspired Rebellion

Recently David Goldhill and Paul Howard wrote an opinion commentary in the Wall Street Journal on how the rapid spread of high deductible insurance may shift the incentives among health care providers to offer better value, safety, and service. Though at odds with the spirit of the Affordable Care Act, the growth of HDP's is being encouraged by some elements of the Act itself. However, for the potential of "consumer-directed" care to be fully realized -- and the potential downside of HDP's avoided -- employers and state governments will need to embrace consumer-oriented reforms.
